VR spaces should have identical signal to CSF on all pulse sequences
3 characteristic locations:
1. Basal ganglia: Along lenticulostriate arteries entering basal ganglia through anterior perforated substance
2. Cerebral white matter: Along the path of perforating medullary arteries as they enter cortical gray matter over the high convexities and extend into the white matter
3. Midbrain:
They can be very large, may cause mass effect,
Differentials:
Lacunar infarct: Deep and non-cortical
PVL: Premature infants
MS
Crytococcus
MPS
Cystic neoplasms
Cysticercosis
Arachnoid cyst
Neuroepithelial cyst
